HandCrafted Knitted Critters by the Rural Women of Kenya. This is what our supplier has to say about this cute product & other products they support/market: "Most products are produced by the local crafters who artistically turn old rubbish into amazing objects for the rest of the world to enjoy. By marketing these products we are creating employment for disadvantaged communities where there is a high level of poverty and unemployment. These communities have no backup from social services and rely on us selling their goods so that they can survive. All artisans and craft people are paid fairly, at a rate that they agree on. All products are hand crafted and therefore each piece is unique. We are attempting to empower the lives of these people who creatively produce these products. We salute the people of Africa who have a rich tapestry of crafts, working with a diverse range of materials. WOLA NANI EMBRACE Wola Nani, is xhosa for “we welcome and develop one another “ and was established in 1994 as a non profit organisation to give support to those suffering from HIV AIDS pandemic. All products are hand crafted by people living with HIV/ AIDS. Buying these products helps maintain dignity and pride for people living with HIV/AIDS by offering them a hand up rather than a hand out" |
